YOU are the Light ~ See you there!!!

A Message from the WLD
How exciting it is to be serving our Lord, Jesus Christ, spreading His Light, on this team of E-128. We humbly seek your prayers for the Pilgrims and for the team as we prepare for the “Mountain-top” experience. I’d like to share with you the significance of our theme and how it came to be. . .

XX The theme for E-128 is “YOU Are The Light!” (The capitalization of all the letters of YOU is not a typographical error. It designates Christ.) This theme is multifaceted: Christ is The Light of the world. And, we are called to be His light to others.

Picture this: You’re driving or walking down a road. You look up and what do you see? I see the sun / Son shining through the clouds, guiding my path. No matter what type of clouds (challenges) are in the sky (in our lives), the sun (The SON) will always be there to light our way, whether we see it, or are conscious of it, or not. “. . .Lo I am with you always, even to the close of the age.” – Matthew 28:20b

XX The Scriptures that are the focus of the theme of the weekend are as follows:
“ Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:105.
“ Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

XX A dear Sister in Christ, who lives in St. Louis, has a plaque in her kitchen that says, “After the clouds comes the sun.” I prefer to think of this as “Through the clouds comes The Sonshine.” Whether we’re experiencing wispy, cirrus clouds (light, joyous times in our lives), more dense cumulus clouds, the kind that seem to form shapes in the sky, with much moisture (some challenges, but not thunder clouds), or cumulonimbus clouds, storm clouds that are densely filled with moisture (challenges in our lives), The Lord’s Light continues to shine, whether it’s exceptionally evident or seemingly hidden by the clouds (challenges). Of this be assured.

XX With all of this said, why did I feel strongly that the theme should be “YOU Are The Light!”? Those exact words? As I prayed about the weekend, seeking guidance, the song “You Are The Light” kept coming to mind, over and over again, day after day. (The Lord had put this message on Karen Elgin’s heart and inspired her to write this beautiful song, praising God and glorifying God’s Name.) Here are excerpts from the song:

“You are The Light in which to guide me,
You are The Light shine for me brightly,
You are The Light for me to see the way. . .

If I find myself inside a place where I see no way out
You shine Your Light in front of me to let me know which way to go
And so I turn around and see that You are there for me. . .

You are The Light. . .”

XX As we continue on our lives’ journeys, may we be ever mindful of The SON guiding our paths. “Through the clouds, no matter what kind they are, may we always see the Sonshine.” And may we also continue to radiate Christ’s Light and Love for all to see instead of hiding that light under a bushel.

Jesus, YOU are The Light! And, sisters and brothers, you radiate Christ’s Light.
Keep it shining!

De Colores,
Jan Niehoff
