A Message from the "R"
The theme of E-174 is UNSINKABLE FAITH – inspired by the story of Peter stepping out of the boat, in the midst of stormy weather, keeping his eye on Jesus and being able to walk on water! What courage, what faith on the part of Peter! What love, what care on the part of God!!! Peter must have later danced with joy, knowing he had earned bragging rights for life with that one act!! And how he bragged about Jesus’ love for each of us…. he became the Rock on which Christianity stands.
Oh that we can do the same! To have faith that would allow us to boldly say to the storms in our lives – He will calm you or He will calm me – either way, I will be dancing and singing on the waves, with arms flung wide, pouring out His praise!
Our weekend verse is Psalms 30:11-12: He turned my mourning into dancing; He removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy; that my heart may not be silent, but sing His praises.
Our weekend theme song is Overcomer by Mandisa – a song that speaks to all this, as well as being one that makes whoever hears it, want to dance with joy and praise the Lord! … even in the midst of our storms!
The team has been called together by God for this weekend – just as each pilgrim who will answer yes to the call. And each one will be clothed with joy – no sackcloths here! I know that in the weeks and months leading to our time on the mountain – October 8-11, 2015, each team member and pilgrim will have some experience that will lead them to say – “this was a God wink! A moment when I knew that I was meant to be on E-174; a moment for me to demonstrate/ lean on/ cling to UNSINKABLE FAITH”.
I have already had many such moments – from the day I was called to be the R! So each day I wake up and praise Him for what He will do in my life that day. I have begun to expect God to show up in unexpected places and unexplicable ways!! And He never disappoints! So my unsinkable faith grows stronger….
We covet your support and prayers for the team and the pilgrims and look forward to being witnesses of the great joy that will unfold on October, on the mountain – God’s dance party on the waves! Blessings, Susan Verghese

* Day of Deeper Understanding
Our E174 DDU will be held at 8:30AM, Saturday, October 24 at Dumfries UMC. This will be a wonderful reunion, and a chance to learn a bit more about this amazing organization. Come hear about the history of the Emmaus NCA, how the weekends are planned, and how you can help with this blessed ministry opportunity.
Remember, you must attend a DDU before sponsoring friends or joining a Team.
Christ is Counting on You ~ See you there!!!
