A Message from the "R"

I walked on E-165 in 2013. Michelle and I had not been in the church very long before I got asked to attend an Emmaus weekend. The only reason I accepted was because I thought I was going to get some much needed relaxation at the time. What I got was so much more valuable. More valuable than I deserved. I got love…joy…and real friends. As many of you know, I did not have the best childhood, and I did not know what real, agape love was. Until E-165, that is. On this mountain top, God revealed to me, through the team, that I am loved, that I am forgiven, and that I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus. Everything that I had been hearing, but not believing. I finally understood that everything wrong that I have done in my past…is in my past, and God forgives me.

When Rich Goad called me to be R, I was shocked. He let me talk for over twenty minutes about my Monday night service, before asking me. I thought he just wanted to hear about the service. However, I was shocked, and very humbled. While Michelle and I were praying and talking about this, the song “rescuer” by Rend Collective came on. This song is about God being our rescuer and how we are free from our sins. It is a song about redemption, and I knew at that moment that God has plans for this weekend.

Many people have told me to soak it all in because it goes by so fast. That is so true. Everyone already has their as-signments and we are getting close to head up to the mountain, to be part of God’s plan to show these pilgrims that they are loved, and forgiven and redeemed. This team of men is so amazing, and I have been truly blessed by each and every one of them. It is so awesome to watch God work through this team and I know that the entire Emmaus, Chrysalis, and Kairos community is surrounding us with prayers. We definitely feel them. It is such a joy.

This was a long way of saying that our theme is all about redemption and forgiveness. It is “Rescued from Ourselves” because we do things that hurt ourselves and God is our rescuer. Our weekend theme song is obviously “Rescuer” by Rend Collective, and the Scripture is Romans 3:23-24. “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

E-189 is working hard and preparing for the pilgrims that are going to be on God’s weekend. We covet all of your prayers and know that we love you all.
