A Message from the "R"
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20
As I was considering a theme, I was reminded of a poem that was printed on a paper that we discovered on my mother’s bed after she unexpectedly passed in October 2012. I truly think it may have been one of the last things that she read. The poem is called:
You are invited to come dine with Me,
From here until eternity,
Believe in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
And dine with Jesus as your host.
To live in Heaven eternally,
All you must to do is……R.S.V.P.
This poem gave us as a family much comfort knowing that she was in heaven, dining at a heavenly banquet with Jesus as her host. After all, when you get an invitation like that, you must go!! This poem came full circle when my brother passed away a couple of years ago, also unexpectedly. He led a difficult life and we didn’t really talk much about matters of faith. After his memorial service, a life-long friend in attendance told me that she and my brother accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior when they were 15 years old. He had made his R.S.V.P. when he accepted Jesus into his heart as a teenager. He was most certainly dining at that heavenly banquet with my mother and all that have accepted Him.
It doesn’t matter who we are, it doesn’t matter what we have done, we are all invited to “Come to the Table”, we only need to R.S.V.P.!! Praise God! There is the heavenly table which we are invited to dine for eternity, the Communion Table where we are reminded of the sacrifice Jesus made for us and the table of fellowship where we come together to dine and to serve all who would come to be fed.
I believe that “Come to the Table” says everything about the Emmaus Community. We come from so many different places in our faith walk, different churches and denominations, and backgrounds, yet when we come together, we worship the one true Lord and Savior.
The theme song for E-192 is “The Table” by Chris Tomlin which says: I'm invited to the table of the Lord I'm invited to the table of the Lord He says, "Come just as you are" To His table.
The team of E-192 is excited to serve the pilgrims that God will send our way. I am humbled to have been chosen by the community to lead this wonderful team and look forward to seeing what he has planned. We appreciate your prayers as we prepare to welcome all who will “Come to the Table”.
