A Message from the "R"

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39,39

Nearly 10 years, 39 Emmaus weekends, and 3620 fourth days have passed since I walked on E-153. I wouldn't say I was one of those guys who didn't want to be on the mountain, but my mindset was like one of the wildebeests that you would see on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. You know where the footage is shot from a helicopter and the voices of Marlin Perkins and Jim Fowler describe what was happening at the scene below. "Look there a lioness is hunting a herd of wildebeests grazing in the Serengeti plains of Southeast Africa. As the lioness approaches the herd she crouches low in the grass, with only the tip of her tail twitching in the wind. Then without apparent reason she suddenly charges at the herd, scattering the grazing animals before her. Most take off in the same direction, but one stumbles slightly and veers to the left of the main herd. The lioness singled him out in an instant, immediately coming between him and the group. The frantic wildebeest runs from the lioness, but the outcome was inevitable. Without the strength of the herd, he is no match for her strength and cunning." My faith walk wasn't much different than that of the wildebeest. I had completely separated myself from the body of Christ and I was no match for the strength and cunning of the enemy seeking to devour me. However, on my weekend I was reminded of this verse and realized I was never really alone at all. My heart melted as I was overwhelmed by His unconditional love for me through the hands and feet of the people in my life and this community.

There is no fear when you know His unconditional love. Which became the theme for E-193, "Know Love, No Fear."

The team of E-193 has been selected. We have completed our Cadre meetings and on February 8, we start pulling together as a team, making preparations to head to the mountain, and serve the pilgrims who God wants to join us. I am asking for each of you to pray for the team, but also for the pilgrims we will be calling and those who will be attending. We have all set our alarms for 8:38 a.m. to remind us to pray for the weekend, team, pilgrims of E-193. Please join us in praying.

De Colores,

Chris Scholz

Day of Deeper Understanding

Our E000 DDU will be held at 8:30AM, Saturday, Date at Place. This will be a wonderful reunion, and a chance to learn a bit more about this amazing organization. Come hear about the history of the Emmaus NCA, how the weekends are pd, and how you can help with this blessed ministry opportunity.

Remember, you must attend a DDU before sponsoring friends or joining a Team.

Christ is Counting on You ~ See you there!!!
